Generative AI is the next big thing, and we are all well aware of that. It is going to launch on the Galaxy S24 along with a number of devices that are coming next year, and so far, we have not received a lot of reports on how it will be implemented.

Samsung might charge the users for the use of on-device generative AI on the Galaxy S24 and other devices

We do know that the new chipsets like the Exynos 2400 and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will offer capabilities for on-device generative AI, but as far as the functionality or the working model is concerned, things are still a bit confusing. Well, a new tip has now surfaced that talks about how Samsung is actively pursuing the option to offer on-device generative AI on the Galaxy S24 based on a subscription model.

Now, it is not hard to put two and two together, but looking at this tweet, it appears that users might have to pay if they want to use generative AI on the Galaxy S24 and other Samsung phones. Honestly, I would have said that it makes sense, but it does not make sense to offer something like this in the first place. Sure, a cloud-based service would have made much more sense, but if you are looking at on-device AI, it makes little to no sense.

Honestly, I am a bit disappointed after hearing this tip, and I am hoping that it is not true. I've been waiting for the Galaxy S24 series, the Ultra variant in particular, and while I do not use generative AI, I would have expected that feature to be freely available for everyone. If Samsung is looking to make a subscription service, what are the chances that the company might only launch it in markets where people are willing to pay for it? If that is to be the case, then we might see a blowback.

We cannot say for sure at the moment about what is going to happen, but considering how the Galaxy S24 series is rumored to launch on January 17th, 2024. We will be keeping a close eye on all the information that comes forward regarding these two devices. Until then, be sure to keep checking back for more information.
