2024 is going to be the year of on-device generative AI making its mark, and the best part is that we are getting some form of AI functionality from every company in the smartphone industry. Samsung is going to bring Galaxy AI to the Galaxy S24 series. OnePlus is going to offer something different, and the same goes for Apple and Google next year. Now, OPPO has announced its AndesGPT, the model that will be debuting on its flagship X7 series next month.
AndestGPT is OPPO's attempt at delivering something groundbreaking
The new AndesGPT has just been announced and comes with 7 billion parameters. OPPO has claimed that it will bring a lot of AI capabilities. It will also be able to utilize features such as Swapped Attention, and it will actually address problems like first-word reasoning, which is often caused in these models.
The 7 billion parameter model is all done by 4-bit quantized model compression. Users will also be able to get access to AI boost inference, engine optimizations, and collaborative deep optimization. AndesGPT will offer much better response speeds than some of the other models that are available on the market. For instance, there is a rapid 2.9-second response, which is 2.5 times faster than the industry standard. In addition to that, the model is able to generate abstracts of up to 14,000 words, which just goes to show how impressive it is.
If you are wondering what other things the AndesGPT can do, then the good news is that it is not just limited to text. You are getting a fully functional, generative visual experience, too. Of course, we cannot be sure how marvelous this feature is, but we look forward to seeing how it will work once it debuts on the OPPO Find X7 series.
Now, the OPPO Find X7 series will be the flagship series releasing next month. What we don't know is whether we will see an international availability for this generative AI or not. We are also not sure if OnePlus will be using the same AI model on its devices. So far, we have not heard about OnePlus planning to introduce generative AI on its flagship phones, but I guess all will be clear next month when we start seeing new devices make their debut.
