The limited-edition NVIDIA RTX 5090 is not just expensive; users will also need to be lucky enough to buy it by winning the lottery in some regions.

MSI RTX 5090 32G Lightning Z is Only Available via Lottery System in Taiwan; Only 100 Units Allocated to the Country

Regular GeForce RTX 5090 GPUs are already way above their MSRPs, but if you had your eyes on the MSI GeForce RTX 5090 32G Lightning Z limited edition, then you won't just have to pay a hefty $5200+ for the GPU, but also have to participate in a lottery system if you want the chance to purchase it in Taiwan. As per Cool PC, there is a limited number of GPU units allocated to Taiwan, which makes it harder for everyone to get their hands on them.

Only 1,300 units of the RTX 5090 32G Lightning Z have been produced for a global release, and only 100 of them have been allocated to Taiwan. MSI Taiwan recently announced a lottery event for getting the chance to purchase the GPU, but it was limited to just 10 units. Looks like the remaining 90 units will also be a part of such lottery systems. As per @unikoshardware, some stores will only sell the GPU with a full PC build.

Unlike other premium editions of the RTX 5090, the RTX 5090 Lightning Z stands out due to its incredibly powerful design that is made to break overclocking records. The GPU is the only one that offers up to 1000W operating TDP out of the box, but for enthusiast overclockers aiming for world records, the card does offer up to 2500W TDP through XOC mode. That said, the 800W and 1000W BIOSes for the card have been recently leaked, which reportedly work even on non-MSI cards, but keep in mind that handling 800W or 1000W through a single 12V-2x6 connector will put your GPU on a huge risk of physical damage.

Apart from a powerful VRM, the GPU utilizes an all-copper block for cooling the components, which is attached to a 360mm AIO that enables enthusiasts to push the clock speeds without needing nitrogen cooling for pushing the GPU to its limits. The 8-inch display on the block is yet another unique feature of the GPU, which makes it the most premium RTX 5090 ever made.
