A new Onimusha Way of the Sword trailer was shared today, providing a new look at the next entry in the series launching next year on PC and consoles.
The new trailer shown during today's Summer Game Fest focused on combat, showing Musashi taking on some fearsome demons using different combat techniques and weapons. Parry mechanics seem to be central, as Musashi is seen parrying attacks from both smaller demons and bigger, more powerful ones. The trailer also provides a new look as Sasaki Ganryu, who will be, much like the historical figure he is based on, one of Musashi's fiercest opponents.
Onimusha Way of the Sword launches sometime in 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S, but those attending Gamescom this year will have the chance to try out the game before release. You can learn more about the latest release in the series, the remaster of Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny, by checking out my hands-on piece.
Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny, much like its predecessor, is a rather unique action-adventure game that strikes a happy medium between the survival horror experience of the first three entries in the Resident Evil series and the more action-oriented approach of the original Devil May Cry, whose development started back in the day, as a new entry in the Resident Evil series.
