There is no denying that the One UI 6.1 is pretty impressive, especially when you pair it with Galaxy AI. Samsung talked a lot about how AI could revolutionize your smartphone experience, and so far, all the reviews I have seen showcase just how good AI can be. However, if you are wondering whether or not older devices are going to get the same update, the good news is that your older Galaxy phones will be getting the new updates, including AI.
Older Samsung Galaxy users can rejoice as Galaxy AI and One UI 6.1 will be heading to those devices
In an email to Android Authority, Samsung confirmed that several of the new AI features that were introduced with the Galaxy S24 series will be coming to older Android devices. These features will be a part of the One UI 6.1 that will roll out to older devices, and of course, Galaxy AI is also going to be there, so if you have been feeling left out, this is a great way to move forward and wait for the update to roll out. Here is what the email said:
Many of the Galaxy AI features introduced on Galaxy S24 will also be supported on previous models including Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5, and Galaxy Tab S9 series within 1H 2024. Please stay tuned for more details.
Now, this certainly is good news, but I do have some concerns. For instance, the Galaxy S24 series uses Exynos 2400 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Both of these chips have AI capabilities baked into them, which means that there could be a limitation to the One UI 6.1 and Galaxy AI features that will be coming to older devices. This could, however, change with time because Samsung could always find a way to integrate all the features, but you do need to be prepared for some changes.
Knowing Samsung, you will not have to wait for long before the One UI 6.1 and Galaxy AI features start rolling out to older devices. Even the email states that the new features should be heading to the older devices within the first half, so we can always keep an eye out. We do know that the new update is already being tested for older devices. It is just a matter of time before we learn more.
