"For 20 years, Cyrodiil belonged to heroes walking alone… Not anymore!" announced the reveal teaser trailer for an Oblivion Remastered multiplayer mod which promises to shake up the remake's experience considerably with community-driven features.
In development by ReadyM, the development team behind the WukongMP mod, which brought PvP and co-op to Black Myth Wukong, this mod will deliver community-driven multiplayer, allowing users to run massive community servers and "experience roleplaying scenarios, battle arenas, establish player guilds, and crawl dungeons with friends."
Although short, the teaser trailer shows just enough for fans of last year's remake to get excited about a new way to experience what is considered among the finest entries in the series created by Bethesda. To stay up to date, you can join the mod's official Discord server.
Due to a lack of modding support and obvious technical reasons, this upcoming Oblivion Remastered multiplayer mod won't be hitting consoles, where the game still managed to be successful enough. Player retention, on the other hand, hasn't been great, as around half of the game's players on PlayStation 5 explored the new rendition of Cyrodiil for less than 15 hours, which is a really small amount of time for a game as massive as this, showing how nostalgia can be powerful, but sometimes not enough to retain players for the entire duration of a game's main campaign.
Although PC players will be the only ones who will be able to explore and live in Cyrodiil together, more heroes are expected to arrive in the land soon. Oblivion Remastered is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 later this year, following Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition, which launched last month, and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, which launches on May 12.
