A Reddit user recently claimed that NVIDIA has ended the VPA program, but he was supposedly misinformed by NVIDIA support.

NVIDIA Confirms That Users Can Still Buy The RTX 50 Series GPUs at MSRP Through VPA Program

Yesterday, a Reddit user shared a screenshot that revealed the talks between him and one of NVIDIA's customer support employees. The user asked whether the VPA (Verified Priority Access) program was still available or not and the employee answered that the VPA had ended.

The employee didn't specify the reason for the discontinuation of the VPA program, but thankfully, that's not the case. NVIDIA itself commented on the thread refuting the claim. The customer support employee supposedly didn't have the right information and misinformed the user and therefore, the thread by the Reddit user has been deleted.

VPA for the GeForce RTX 50 series Founders Edition graphics cards has not ended

- NVIDIA (Reddit)

If you aren't familiar with the program, then it's exclusive to NVIDIA account holders to purchase any of the recently launched RTX 50 series GPUs (RTX 5070 Ti excluded). As per the Verified Priority Access program, anyone who is interested in buying the RTX 5090, RTX 5080, and the RTX 5070 Founders Edition GPU can apply by filling out a form that lets them get the GPUs at MSRP.

NVIDIA introduced this method in order to combat the high prices and poor availability of GPUs, but it's a temporary solution and may not guarantee you a GPU at the official price tag. There are certain conditions to fulfill before one can apply or win the chance to buy the GPU. This program only offers the Founders Edition cards of the mentioned models and one has to be a US resident.

It's also compulsory to have an NVIDIA account created before 30th January 2025, which means anyone who had an NVIDIA account before the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 were launched may enter the program. After checking for eligibility via an algorithm, the VPA program will decide who should get the GPUs at MSRP. The winners will get email invitations to purchase the GPUs, and they will be able to buy them through NVIDIA's official store.
