NVIDIA has announced that its MFG 6X mode arrives on 31st March, and more AAA titles with DLSS 4.5 & Path Tracing are coming.
NVIDIA MFG 6X "Dynamic Multi Frame Generation" Technology Will Be Available on 31st March
NVIDIA's Multi-Frame Generation technology, or MFG, is getting its latest update on 31st March with 6x Mode. NVIDIA first introduced frame-generation with DLSS 3 with a 2x mode, dialed it up to 4x with DLSS 4, and now, users will be able to enjoy 6x the frame-generation in DLSS 4.5.

The new NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 MFG enables up to 6x mode, offering even better smoothness, which is perfect for high refresh rate gaming. MFG 6x also offers better frame pacing and image quality on its own, which further helps improve the multi-frame generation gaming experience.

With DLSS 4.5 MFG mode at 6x, users can get up to a 33% boost at 4K in titles such as Black Myth: Wukong (all maxed out and path traced). There's also a slight uptick in latency of around 10-15%, but overall, users should enjoy a smoother, high-refresh-rate, and detailed gaming experience.

NVIDIA went a step ahead with what it could do with MFG and is also introducing a new mode called DLSS 4.5 Dynamic Multi-Frame Generation. With this mode, users can maximize and match the FPS of their monitor's refresh rate. This is designed specifically for higher 240Hz+ refresh rate monitors, and you can set the target FPS manually, after which Dynamic Multi-Frame Generation will dynamically switch the MFG modes from 1x to 6x to maintain the designed FPS.

In a comparison chart, most AAA games will require 4x and 3x MFG to maintain a 240Hz refresh rate. The 6x mode is meant for those who are rocking 360Hz or above 4K monitors.

NVIDIA also states that MFG 6x mode will be very smooth, and users won't encounter any slowdowns when the MFG mode dynamically switches between 2x/3x/4x/5x/6x modes depending on the frame rate desired by the user. You can either have MFG set to dynamic with a target frame rate or you can select a targeted mode.

NVIDIA Bringing DLSS 4.5 & Path Tracing Support To More AAA Games
NVIDIA announced three brand new titles that will feature DLSS 4.5 and Path Tracing support.

These include Tides of Annihilation, 007 First Light, and Control Resonant. 007 First Light is launching on 27th May, and will feature leverage path tracing to showcase accurate shadows and superior lightning, which can be seen in the comparison shots below.
Without Path Tracing, as you can see in the scene, the shadows across are pretty soft. For instance, the shadow from the palm tree against the stone wall is blurred and lacks definition, failing to represent the intricate details. Additionally, the recessed panels show uniform shadows that do not realistically capture the high contrast, darker tones that the spotlight below should produce.
With Path Tracing on, you can see the well-defined silhouette of the plant, and the shadows are far more accurate. On the upper right, the recessed panels now exhibit accurate shadows from the spotlight. With Path Tracing, the image quality improvements create a stronger sense of immersion.

In Control Resonant, Path Tracing makes this game much more immersive. When RT is enabled, in this scene, you'll see less realistic screen-space reflections on the puddles and on the car. With Path Tracing, the world really comes to life. Buildings accurately reflect off cars, shadows have more clarity, and all the indirect lighting adds more depth to every object in the scene. Control Resonant will also be playable on GeForce Now Day One!
