NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 5090 is expected to witness an inventory "stock-out" at launch as retailers and AIB partners report low supplies on launch day.

NVIDIA's RTX 5090 SKUs Are Said To Be In "Single-Digit" Among Many Retailers, Team Green Confirms Low Stock Availability As A Result of Significant Demand From Gamers In The Coming Week

Well, Team Green's RTX Blackwell GPUs such as the GeForce RTX 5090 do indeed come with great capabilities. Still, it seems like an average consumer might find it challenging to get access to units around the launch period, as the initial batch is expected to witness a supply shortage. NVIDIA's statement at their forums has confirmed this, and according to @StinceBuilt, AIB partners are now considering pushing the sale embargo one week ahead, considering the current imbalances in the supply chain.

The situation is indeed a mess, and while we did report back on the RTX 50 series shortage, it seems like the situation is a lot different from what we expected. Not only are retailers reporting "single-digit" inventory for the GeForce RTX 5090, but given the presence of scalpers, these units may be impossible to get access to, even after weeks of official launch, since NVIDIA is said to have tightened up the supply to retail sources. AIB partners have also started to react to the situation, which we'll talk about next.

We expect significant demand for the GeForce RTX 5090 and 5080 and believe stock-outs may happen. NVIDIA & our partners are shipping more stock to retail every day to help get GPUs into the hands of gamers.

It is claimed that partners like MSI are now looking to push the launch to February 6th, keeping in light of the supply chain issues and the fact that the Chinese New Year is right around the corner. System integrators are expected to take back-orders for NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 5090 SKUs, and for direct retailers, well, the situation will be pretty messy since the demand-supply ratio is expected to be rough this time. So, expect to be disappointed with NVIDIA's RTX Blackwell GPUs initially.

In terms of when you can snag a unit right away, well, it is completely uncertain for now. However, we do see supply to start improving weeks after the official launch, which means that the end of February might be the time when the SKUs start popping up on retail channels. To top it all off, it is claimed that AIB margins are pretty slim this time, so snagging up units at MSRP is yet again a surprising move to pull off, that is, if someone manages to do so.
