NVIDIA's high-end GeForce RTX 5090/RTX 5080 have started hitting retail all across Europe, and the initial listing prices aren't looking too fancy, with the GeForce RTX 5090 costing up to €2,889.
NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 5090 Gets Listed Up To €2,889 Including VAT, EU Consumers May Need To Break Their Banks This Time
Well, EU prices certainly vary, given how the VAT taxes fluctuate in each nation. Given that Team Green's RTX 50 series is right around the corner to debut at retail stores, many have already started putting up listings to prepare for the massive release. As much as we would like to turn the initial prices into something, based on what we have seen, the prices for top-tier GPUs, mainly the GeForce RTX 5090 and the RTX 5080, aren't looking too good, with specific variants costing up to €2,889/$2,972 for the flagship model at a Spanish retailer. Note that this includes a hefty 21% VAT as well.
ZOTAC's GeForce RTX 5090 AMP Gaming Extreme is listed at this price tag and is known to be a top-tier model in the AIB lineup, so the pricing is higher. Other "relatively" less pricer models, such as Gigabyte's Windforce OC, are listed at €2,599, including the VAT tax. Here are all the GeForce RTX 5090 models listed at the Spanish retailer:

It is important to note once again that the above-listed models include a premium 21% VAT tax. If we remove that, the most expensive model, ZOTAC's GeForce RTX 5090 AMP Gaming Extreme, is expected to be listed at €2387.60/$2,455. Considering that the MSRP of this particular variant is $1,999, consumers might be paying a lot more "premium tax" just to get the SKU out of retailers around the launch date.
Similarly, the GeForce RTX 5080 has also been listed at the Spanish retailer, with the most expensive model being the Gigabyte's AORUS Xtreme Waterforce, which comes with a dedicated cooling block but with a hefty price tag of €2,269. However, the other mid-end models in terms of variants, such as the ASUS Prime GeForce RTX 5080 and PNY's GeForce RTX 5080 Epic-X, retail at around €1,836 and €1,529, respectively, including VAT. Yet again, you are looking at paying almost $200-$400 upfront to snag up the SKUs during the launch period.
This is just another occasion of retailers bumping up on-launch prices, and this trend isn't just for EU marketplaces, since US retailers are often increasing prices way above MSRP to capitalize on the hype. Just recently, we discussed how availability on launch dates would be pretty low, so it's safe to say that prices are going to go even higher, posing whether the RTX 50 release, at least the high-end models, would be worth the money and hassle to get.
