NVIDIA has announced that their budget-friendly GeForce RTX 5060 GPU will launch by mid-May, shortly after Jensen's Computex keynote.
NVIDIA To Compete With AMD's RX 9060 Series With The GeForce RTX 5060, Set For Unveiling at This Year's Computex
It seems like NVIDIA plans to enter the budget-friendly segment of the GPU market with the launch of the GeForce RTX 5060 soon, and it will likely be a contender to AMD's RX 9060 8 GB model, if it does get released. We do know that the GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 8 GB model came with disappointing performance, so it will be interesting to see what plans NVIDIA have to offset to low VRAM disadvantage here. For now, we know that the RTX 5060 is set for showcase at Computex 2025, with a retail launch to officially occur on 19th May.

Interestingly, this date is inline with the previous rumors as well, and retail channels had already started preparations for the launch of the GPU, with PNY listing a model recently. In terms of specifications, we are looking at an 8 GB GDDR7 VRAM configuration running at 28 Gbps through a 128-bit memory bus. We are looking at a 25% increase in CUDA cores, coming in at 3840 cores Lastly, the GeForce RTX 5060 will also bring a noticeable increase in power consumption, and compared to the RTX 4060, it will bring a 35W TDP increase, coming in at 145W.
Here's how the RTX 5060 is positioned relative to its generational counterpart.
- 25% More CUDA Cores
- Same Memory Capacity
- Faster GDDR7 Memory (28 Gbps?)
- More Bandwidth (+64%)
- 30% Higher power rating
For pricing, PNY listed the GeForce RTX 5060 8 GB for $299 on Best Buy, so it is safe to assume that this is likely going to be the MSRP of the model. There's been a lot of criticism around lower VRAM in GPUs, especially the 8 GB figure, since the RTX 5060 Ti 8 GB has proven to be a flawed release which is said to be held back simply because of the lower VRAM size. So, it will be interesting to see how NVIDIA tackles this particular element, and we'll likely get more details at this year's Computex.
