Accoring to the latest reports, the GeForce RTX 5050 could appear as soon as July and will keep the latest GDDR7 memory.
NVIDIA's Entry-Level Blackwell GPU Rumored to be Released in July; Will be Based on GB207 Die and Will Feature 8 GB GDDR7 VRAM
NVIDIA is almost done with the first batch of the Blackwell-based GeForce RTX 50 series GPUs, RTX 5060 being its latest addition to the lineup. It should be no surprise to hear about the GeForce RTX 5050, which has been in the conversations for months and, as per several reports, it does exist for both desktop and mobile platforms.
However, what wasn't known yet is its release date and, while it's still too early to conclude, the latest reports suggest that the GeForce RTX 5050 could be released as soon as July. This is probably NVIDIA's lowest-end GPU in the RTX 50 lineup and will feature the GB207 die, featuring 2560 CUDA Cores and will feature 8 GB VRAM size. Previous reports suggested that the memory type won't be GDDR7, but a new report suggests that NVIDIA is likely going to retain the GDDR7 memory on the RTX 5050 as well.

This appears likely since the laptop variant has been seen with GDDR7 memory in multiple leaks. All the existing RTX 50 GPUs also ship with the same GDDR7 VRAM, which runs at a good 28 Gbps speed and downgrading to GDDR6 on the RTX 5050 could lead to a noticeable performance downgrade. With the GDDR7 memory, one should expect a slight bump over the GeForce RTX 4050, which currently only exists for the laptop.
Compared to the GeForce RTX 4050 mobile, there is supposedly no increase in the core count on the RTX 5050 (both desktop and laptop), but one will see a 2 GB memory increase as well as a wider 128-bit memory bus. After NVIDIA releases the RTX 5050, it is expected to switch to the "Super" series as we have talked about previously.
