It seems that NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 50 lineup will also include the "SUPER" RTX 5080 & RTX 5070 variants, as new models have been spotted at Chiphell forums.
NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 50 SUPER Lineup Likely To Feature 3 GB GDDR7 Memory Modules; Performance "Not A Big Upgrade" But RTX 5080 And 5070 To Get 50% More VRAM
Well, Team Green's GeForce RTX 50 launch, especially for the higher-end variants, wasn't as smooth as we would have initially hoped for, given that they were faced with inventory issues alongside other problems like display driver crashing and missing ROPs. However, it seems like NVIDIA could potentially make up for everything with their SUPER lineup of GPUs, as according to Chiphell, it is revealed that NVIDIA is prepping for two different variants, likely the GeForce RTX 5080 SUPER and the RTX 5070 SUPER.
NVIDIA is preparing RTX 50 SUPER products?

Interestingly, the details around the SUPER variants are confined for now, except for the fact that they will reportedly come with 24 GB VRAM and 18 GB VRAM, respectively. Of course, they'll be consistent in terms of employing GDDR7 technology, likely utilizing 3 GB GDDR7 memory modules, similar to the GeForce RTX 5090 laptop GPU. We did see MSI revealing details about a GeForce RTX 5080 with 24 GB of memory onboard, so it is likely that AIBs had been preparing for a dedicated SUPER model.

The user at the Chiphell forum says that the performance of these new SUPER models is not going to be that different from the existing models, so we are uncertain about what to expect with the newer variants for now. Apart from bringing in higher VRAM capabilities (50% versus 5080 16 GB & 5070 12 GB), NVIDIA needs to ensure that RTX 50 SUPER GPUs come with better availability than their regular counterparts, since that's the only way the firm could position itself more dominantly. And given that there's almost no competition in the enthusiast segment, Team Green doesn't need to stress out much either way.
While availability will be one thing for NVIDIA to tackle, pricing will be something that won't be in their control, given the tariff wars that are being initiated across the globe and the rise in prices of PC components.
While a 24 GB NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 SUPER may not be highly beneficial in gaming, it can certainly be helpful in other memory-intensive tasks, likely with AI workloads. However, the RTX 5070 SUPER could make some strides in the mid-to-high segment of the GPU market, given that with such VRAM onboard and potentially higher clock speeds, it could position itself as a decent 2K/4K graphics card. We are still anticipating more details on the RTX 50 SUPER models in the future, and maybe we could see an announcement at Computex 2025 or at a much later date since "SUPER" refreshes happen a year after the regular lineup.
