Apart from the GeForce RTX 5080 Noctua Edition, the company also wants to make a similar GeForce RTX 5090. However, it is apparently difficult for the company to receive enough GPU chips.
Noctua Shows Eagerness in Making RTX 5090 Noctua Edition but Blames Poor GPU Supply For Delaying its Release
The ASUS GeForce RTX 5080 Noctua OC is one of the most premium RTX 5080 editions, which costs a whopping $2300 in China (and over 1600 Euros in the EU). The collaboration between ASUS and Noctua made such a GPU possible, which offers a hefty heatsink, featuring numerous heat pipes, and high-performance Noctua NF-A12 fans, resulting in a quad-slot-sized GPU. It was launched at the beginning of this month and is currently available on the popular Chinese e-commerce platform, JD.

However, as you might have thought, why didn't the company release an RTX 5090 edition? We finally have the answer. As KitGuru reports, they asked the same question to Noctua, to which Noctua responded that it is indeed interested in making an RTX 5090 Noctua edition as well. However, despite their eagerness to make an RTX 5090 edition, a major difficulty stands in their way. Apparently, such an edition does not exist right now due to the "scarce" GPU chips.
The GeForce RTX 5090 utilizes the Blackwell GB202 chip, which is also used in some workstation Blackwell AI GPUs. High-end workstation cards such as RTX PRO 6000 also use the same GB202 chip, and the demand is quite high. The RTX 5090 is also well-equipped with powerful AI capabilities, and we have seen the RTX 5090 being smuggled to China easily, which is then converted to dedicated AI GPUs.

Still, Noctua hasn't ditched the entire plan to make custom RTX 5090 Noctua Editions, but would "love to do a 5090" in the near future. However, at the moment, given that they aren't able to secure enough chips to make such editions, users will only have the RTX 5080 Noctua OC as the alternative. Not to mention, the RTX 5080 Noctua OC is twice as expensive in some regions as the base and Founders editions. In case Noctua is able to produce the RTX 5090 variants in the near future, I don't think the GPU will cost anything less than $3000 (or even above $3500), even if the availability and prices of the RTX 5090 improve.
