Mere days after teasing No Man's Sky ECHOES as part of the game's seventh anniversary, Hello Games has now released the update, which is a really big one.

For one thing, the British developer is adding a robotic race, the first race to be introduced post-launch. In No Man's Sky ECHOES, players will uncover a long-hidden race of robots through what was described as 'rich story content'. Travelers will have to engage in robot assignments and rituals to earn a huge array of mechanical parts to create their robotic avatars.

Moreover, space combat has been overhauled to allow for truly epic freighter versus freighter battles. Players must defend fleets from pirates and may use tactics such as flying through enemy trenches to sabotage their shields and destroy them.

Other additions coming with No Man's Sky ECHOES include:

  • Players can search out and assemble their own sci-fi ceremonial staff. Level these up with unique new technology to mine and battle your way through the universe.
  • Travelers can now search for, trade, and scrap weapons, allowing players to become Multi-tool  scrap merchants. Travelers can also choose from a wider array of weapons and tools, including the aforementioned staff and a new powerful Atlas weapon.
  • A new Holographic museum that allows players to decorate and display their favorite weird and wonderful discoveries in their base for others to visit and see.
  • An exploration-focused expedition starts soon for explorers and adventurers to venture into the universe and catalog its marvels in the VOYAGERS expedition. Together with a Twitch drops campaign, this brings a host of new content and rewards for players.

Last but not least, Hello Games continues to improve the rendering quality, performance, and stability of the game. PS VR2 users can expect a large quality improvement thanks to implementing foveated rendering. The Nintendo Switch version also benefits from performance improvements and a new antialiasing technique that should make the game even prettier on the console.
