Nintendo already has a pretty strong holiday season lined up with the likes of Super Mario Bros. Wonder and the Super Mario RPG remake on the way, but it seems more news may be coming down the ol’ warp pipe. The company has traditionally held a substantial Nintendo Direct in September, doing so for four of the last five years. Well, if rumors are to be believed, the same will happen this year. As we’ve already reported, longtime Nintendo leaker NatetheHate has hinted a Direct is coming “soon-ish,” and website Universo Nintendo has gone further, suggesting we’ll see something next week between September 11 and September 15. Other insiders have also made hints something is on the way.

If a Nintendo Direct is imminent, what can we expect to see? Well, that’s where Pyoro comes in. They may be relatively new to the insider scene, but Pyoro pretty much nailed everything about the last big Nintendo Direct, leaking that a new 2D Mario and Mario RPG remake would be revealed. They’ve also delivered accurate info about Sonic Superstars and more in the past. Well, Pyoro has waded back into the fray with some new hints, starting with…

So, what does that mean? Well, MATLAB is actually a tricky math reference to Nintendo’s long-neglected F-Zero franchise. There actually have been F-Zero rumors floating around for a while, so it seems we may finally be getting some news. Pyoro also chimed in when somebody suggested that we’ll just get some F-Zero GBA titles added to Nintendo Switch Online, saying that’s not what they were hinting at.

On to Pyoro’s next hint, which is a lot easier to parse.

We’ve been hearing talk of a big Donkey Kong revival for years now, with rumors of a new 3D DK title from Nintendo’s main 3D Mario team and various media tie-ins. Could we finally get some confirmation next week? Let’s hope so.

Finally, while not quite as juicy a tease, Pyoro also hints we'll learn more about that Princess Peach project revealed during the last Nintendo Direct.

Of course, we’ve also been hearing lots of talk about the successor to the Nintendo Switch lately, with reliable sources saying the new hardware was shown to developers behind closed doors at Gamescom. Could we see a major hardware reveal next week? I definitely wouldn’t count on it – I suspect Nintendo will save that for a dedicated unveiling show sometime next year – but you never know.

Always, take all of this with a grain of salt until you see the announcements with your own eyes during the Nintendo Direct. That said, Pyoro has definitely had the goods in the past, so unless they’ve decided to burn their credibility, there’s reason to be relatively optimistic.

What do you think the next Nintendo Direct will bring us? Perhaps more importantly, what do you hope Nintendo shows off?
