New Xbox One System Update Released; Improves Wi-Fi Performance & Reliability on XB1S and XB1X

Microsoft has rolled out a new Xbox One system update which should improve the wireless performance and reliability on both Xbox One S and Xbox One X.

In addition to Wi-Fi improvements, the new firmware resolves a store navigating issue, addresses a privacy & online safety issue, and fixes a bug HMDI-passthrough breaking Dolby Atmos. We’ve included the release notes for the new firmware updates (OS version: 10.0.16299.4055 and 10.0.16299.4059 down below:

Release date



Resolved an issue that sometimes prevented users from pressing B to go back when navigating the Store.

Privacy & online safety

Resolved an issue that caused child accounts with family restrictions to retain the restrictions after graduating to an adult account.

Party chat

Resolved an issue that caused some users to lose party chat audio and voice quality fixes.


AVRs with HDMI-passthrough should no longer break Dolby Atmos for home theater if the TV and console are turned on before the AVR.
