It can connect to a variety of streaming services right from Netflix to Spotify. However, for the new Google Home users out there, we have come up with this guide to help you in connecting streaming services such as Netflix, Pandora, and Spotify with Google Home.
How to link Google Home with your Netflix account
By connecting your Netflix account with Google Home, you can stream your favorite shows on your connected Chromecast or Google Cast device through voice commands.
Here are the steps to connect your Netflix account:
- Open the Google Home app on your Android or iOS device
- In the top left corner of the Home screen, tap Menu
- Make sure that the Google account you select is the one that is connected with your Google Home and also check if your device is one the same Wi-Fi network as Google Home
- Now select "More Settings." and then tap on "Videos and Photos."
- Select the "Link" option under "Netflix" option
- Log-in to your Netflix account
- After successfully connecting your account, test it by saying “OK Google, play [say the name of any show or movie] on Netflix on [name of Chromecast device].”
The above mentioned will most likely work for all the connected devices except for Android TV.
How to link Spotify and Pandora accounts with Google Home
Google Home is a smart home speaker, which means that it doubles up as your music system. The speaker has an excellent 360-degree sound quality, which makes it ideal for streaming music via Spotify or Pandora. Also, you can stream music from Spotify or any other compatible music streaming services to connected Chromecast or Chromecast Audio.
Music streaming services like Google Play Music and YouTube Music come connected by default on Google Home if you're signed in to your Google account. However, for services like Spotify and Pandora, you have to connect them manually.
Here's how you can connect Spotify and Pandora with Google Home
- Open the Google Home app on your Android or iOS device
- In the app menu, tap on "Music."
- Select the Google account that you want to link and then tap on the link
- Enter sign-in details for your Spotify and Pandora accounts
- After the completion of the process, you can test it on Google Home by saying [“OK Google, play [any song or station] on [Pandora or Spotify].”
Also, you can also make any music streaming a default selection for Google Home. Just open Google Home app on your device> go to Menu > Music > Account > Select the service - Spotify/Pandora or any other and then select "default" option in front of it. After making any of the apps as your default choice, you won't require mentioning the service name while commanding Google Home to play a song.
