Let's take a step back, as it's been a while. The war sandbox multiplayer game launched on Steam Early Access in late 2021, quickly garnering a positive reception and a lot of players. It featured tactical combat, base building, NPC recruiting, horse taming, a guild system, a trading system, siege battles, and more. Myth of Empires also supported NVIDIA's DLSS and ray tracing on GeForce RTX graphics cards.

Less than a month later, though, Steam suddenly delisted the game following a copyright claim filed by Snail Games. At the time, developer Angela Game promised a vigorous legal defense to restore the game's availability on Steam. However, nearly two years later, Myth of Empires has continued to be playable only through its own launcher (available via the official website).

That will change in early 2024, as Snail Games and Angela Game have now announced a rather unique settlement agreement of their legal dispute. Angela Game President Yi Ling Zheng said in a statement:

Following nearly two years of litigation, we are pleased to announce this settlement agreement for Snail, Angela, and Studio Wildcard. Angela acknowledges that it caused difficulties for Snail’s business. By working together, Angela and Snail will put those difficulties behind them. Angela regrets any difficulties it caused Snail and looks forward to moving into this business partnership. At the same time, we hope that, with Snail’s extensive user resources and excellent platform relationships built on ARK, they can assist us in our future publishing efforts, injecting greater market vitality into Myth of Empires.

As a result of the settlement, Myth of Empires is coming back to PC distribution platforms (including Steam) in early 2024 with Snail Games as its publisher. Snail Games will also partner on the global launch of the game on Sony's PlayStation and Microsoft's Xbox consoles (also scheduled for early next year), assisting with PR and marketing. Last but not least, Angela and Snail promised a 'steady cadence' of expansion packs and DLCs for Myth of Empires.
