MSI is prepping new AM5 options with its MPG X870E Edge TI Wi-Fi & a new high-end ITX option for the latest AMD Ryzen CPUs.

MSI's All-White MPG X870E Edge Ti WIFI Comes With Quad Gen5 M.2 Slots, New High-End ITX Variant Also Being Made

Almost all motherboard vendors have a white-colored AM5 motherboard and MSI is hopping on board the train with a premium offering that features the high-end X870E chipset. This option is going to come in the form of the MSI MPG X870E Edge Ti WiFi, which we had the first look at and the motherboard looks spectacular.

In terms of design, the MSI MPG X870E Edge Ti WIFI will be positioned right below the top MPG offering, the X870E Carbon WIFI. This motherboard will feature a powerful VRM solution which is going to be powered by dual 8-pin connectors and makes use of two large aluminum heatsinks that are interconnected using a heat pipe solution and feature a metallic silver color. The RGB-lit Dragon logo on the IO cover looks great too.

The memory side features four DDR5 DIMM slots with support of up to 192 GB capacity at really high speeds. Next to them are a DEBUG LED and a Digital DEBUG LED along with a variety of fan & RGB headers. The motherboard comes with three full-length PCIe x16 slots, one of which features Gen5 x16 connectivity. In addition to that, the top-most PCIe slot comes with an EZ release mechanism and the same goes for the M.2 slots.

There are four M.2 slots on the motherboard, each with an EZ release mechanism heatsink and all four are Gen5 compliant thanks to the vast number of Gen5 lanes offered on the X870E platform. There's also the auxiliary 8-pin connector which can provide additional power to the PCIe slot for next-gen GPUs. For IO, you are looking at a 5 GbE LAN port, four USB 2.0 ports, five USB 10 Gbps ports, a 10 Gbps USB Type-C port, and dual 40 Gbps USB Type-C ports. For easy DIY use, there's a Flash BIOS and Clear CMOS button on the rear panel plus you get WIFI 7 support.

Furthermore, we have the latest X870E/X870 product roadmap which reveals that the MSI MPG X870E Edge TI WIFI will launch in December, making it a great option for those picking up an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU and for those who want to go the ITX route, the motherboard maker is also planning to launch an MPG ITX option (X870) which should launch around Q2 2025. The X870 ITX boards are quite limited, so It's nice to see that MSI is working towards expanding the AMD range in that form factor.
