MSI is rolling out some big monitor updates at CES 2026, such as its MPG 341CQR QD-OLED X36 with the 5th Gen QD-OLED technology.

MSI's MPG 341CQR QD-OLED X36 Gaming Monitor To Feature Deeper Blacks & Improved Surface Hardness Thanks To 5th Gen QD-OLED Technology

Samsung recently announced that it has begun mass producing and shipping its new 360Hz V-Striple QD-OLED panels to display manufacturers. And it looks like MSI is among the first to feature this panel technology on its upcoming MPG 341CQR QD-OLED X36 gaming monitor.

Today, MSI confirmed its 34" MPG 341CQR QD-OLED X36 monitor, which comes with a WQHD resolution of 3440x1440, a super-fast refresh rate of up to 360Hz, and the latest OLED Care 3.0 technology. Besides these, the main highlight is definitely the 5th Gen QD-OLED panel technology, which brings two major updates.

The first update is MSI's own DarkArmor Film that offers a 40% boost in Blacks, offering richer and more immersive viewing experiences along with a 2.5x improvement to surface hardness. This eliminates the purple tint that can be seen on existing QD-OLED panels.

The second update is the 5th Gen QD-OLED panel from Samsung, which comes with a new V-Stripe pixel structure that improves the clarity of text edges, making it ideal for users engaged in text-intensive tasks such as document editing, coding, or content creation.

5th Gen QD-OLED sub-pixel change

Probably the biggest change that users will welcome is the underlying technological transition to an RGB Stripe sub-pixel arrangement, which is much closer to that of traditional LCD panels. This may sound like a minor tweak, but the revamped 5th Gen sub-pixel change will mean that some of the most common complaints about OLED displays could be cast aside forever.

With 5th Gen QD-OLED technology, users will benefit from noticeably sharper text and crisper lines between contrasting blocks of color - with ill-defined lines and the color fringing concerns of old virtually eliminated.

MSI has given a closer look at the pixel arrangement as seen below:

Besides this, MSI is also introducing its flagship Ultra-Wide gaming monitor, the MEG X QD-OLED, which looks impressive and will come with various innovative features that leverage AI. More details are to come at CES 2026, but MSI has stated that this will be a 34" QD-OLED design with the same 5th Gen QD-OLED panel technology.

In addition to these, MSI has also updated its 32" QD-OLED lineup with the MPG 322UR X24 and the MAG 321UP X24, featuring the same deeper blacks and enhanced brightness levels. More on those here.
