MSI Unleashes MEG X870E ACE & B850MPOWER Motherboards, Two AM5 ITX Designs & MAG X870E Tomahawk WIFI PZ With Backside Connectors

MSI launched a barrage of AMD AM5 motherboards with its MEG X870E ACE & B850MPOWER being the showcase highlights alongside a trio of ITX offerings.

MSI Gives AMD AM5 Builders Even More Motherboard Options, MEG X870E ACE For Enthusiasts, B850MPOWER For Overclockers, Mini-ITX Designs & Backside Connector Tomahawk

A common trend that we are seeing at Computex is that most motherboard manufacturers are putting more effort in their AM5 lineup rather than the Intel side of things. MSI also knows that gamers are more interested in AMD Ryzen options & hence, is rolling out several new designs for users to select.

MSI MEG X870E ACE For High-End AM5 Builders

Starting with the MSI MEG X870E ACE, this is the latest ACE design, which we had already kind of seen with the Z890 series, but updated with a few new tricks. For one, the motherboard is just as high-end as you can expect an ACE-class product to be, with many VRMs, dual 8-pin connector configuration, four DDR5 memory slots with some really fast frequency support, and many unique features.

Some of those include the new Illusion Lightning system, which delivers a unique effect on the front I/O panel, which hosts the MSI dragon logo, and also the large PCH/M.2 cover. In terms of IO, you get five M.2 slots, of which two are Gen5 connectors, and all of them are featured under M.2 Shield Frozr heatsinks. The motherboard itself also uses a wavy fin design with Direct-Touch cross heat pipe, which enables superior VRM cooling compared to traditional heatsink blocks.

Other highlights include 10 GbE LAN, WIFI7 and USB 40G ports, making this a strong offering in MSI's AM5 lineup. There's also a single 8-pin connector to provide extra juice to the PCIe lanes, and dual PCIe 5.0 x16 slots can also be seen. The motherboard also leverages various EZ design standards.

Next up, we have the MSI B850MPOWER, which is something that we had already shared with you back in April. It looks like MSI is finally giving us a look at this mainstream yet powerful board for overclocking enthusiasts.

MSI B850MPOWER Brings Beastly Memory Overclocking To Mainstream Audiences

Starting with the details, the MSI B850MPOWER motherboard will feature the AM5 socket. Unlike the previous design, which went with a brown PCB and silver aesthetic, the newer board brings back the black and yellow look that was initially introduced in the first MPOWER and XPOWER designs. The new MPOWER motherboard also comes with a mATX form factor.

Other than that, we can see the motherboard featuring two DDR5 DIMM slots, which will be able to support up to 128 GB capacities. There is an M.2 slot next to the DIMM slot, and a large heatsink can be seen covering the PCH, and the additional M.2 slots (3 in total), which will be seated underneath it.

The motherboard has a handful of fan connectors, and there seem to be just two SATA III ports. The motherboard also comes with an EZ Dashboard that integrates the power, reset, Clear CMOS, and DEBUG LED for a simplified diagnostic process.

MSI Goes Crazy With New ITX Options In White Aesthetics

Another surprising thing to see from MSI is that they are launching three new ITX options, and all of them are colored white. These include two AM5 and one Intel option, such as the MPG X870I Edge TI Wi-Fi, MPG B850I Edge Ti Wi-Fi, and the MPG B860I Edge Ti Wi-Fi.

The MSI MPG X870I EDGE TI Wi-Fi is the highest-end ITX offering, which offers a full PCIe Gen5 x16 slot, triple M.2 slots with one being the new Gen5 standard, a Lightning USB 40G port, Wi-Fi 7, 5GbE LAN, and Audio Boost 5. The motherboard also features a high-end VRM cooling solution that utilizes an active fan. A fun and unique thing about this motherboard is that it comes with a 2nd PCB that can be inserted into its dedicated slot, which is used for extending the IO capabilities that are not possible on a Mini-ITX design.

Unique Backside Connector & Pink-Colored AM5 Motherboards Too!

Lastly, MSI has two unique motherboards, with the first being the MAG X870E Tomahawk Wi-Fi PZ. This board comes with a back-connect layout, which shifts all connectors to the back for a clean and easy PC build.

The motherboard is also colored white, a first for the MAG Tomahawk series, and features an extended heatsink for the VRMs, four M.2 slots, including two Gen5 slots, PCIe 5.0 x16 slots, USB 40G, and WIFI7 support. The board does look impressive and a good change versus the lime colors from the standard Tomahawk. Now we can only hope that MSI makes a standard variant of this board and prices it right, since that will be an awesome entry-level option.

And finally, we have a pink-colored MPG X870 EDGE TI Wi-Fi board, which features an anime theme.

This was part of a themed setup displayed at the booth, but I am sure there are some of you out there who will be interested in such a product.
