MSI's latest AM5 BIOS features deliver up to a 10% performance boost in gaming on AMD's Ryzen 9000 Desktop CPUs.

MSI's Memory Try It & High-Efficiency Mode BIOS Features Deliver Nice Gaming Uplifts With AMD Ryzen 9000 CPUs

MSI's AM5 motherboards are now loaded with the latest AGESA 1.2.0.0a BIOS which comes with new exclusive features such as Memory Try It and High-Efficiency mode which offer more tuning and performance-gaining abilities in addition to EXPO OPP and Curve Shaper features which are standard across all AM5 motherboards running the latest AGESA BIOS and the new Ryzen 9000 CPUs.

In a blog post, MSI has shared performance benchmarks of its latest AM5 motherboard features which will allow users to gain extra performance out of their AMD Ryzen 9000 "Zen 5" chips. The company first shares performance benchmarks of the AMD OPP (Optimized Performance Profile) mode which offers up to a 17% increase in gaming performance and reduces latency by up to 19% compared to default configurations.

Versus the standard EXPO profile, the OPP mode loads the best profile for memory modules using Hynix memory, offering a 5% reduction in latency and up to 2% boost in gaming performance. This is made possible by optimizing the memory timings to CL30-38-38-96 (OPP) versus CL36-38-38-80 (EXPO).

MSI's High-Efficiency mode further adds performance to games on top of AMD OPP. The feature essentially uses MSI's validated timings and clocks for a range of memory modules. The HPM feature gives users five options to select from which include Auto, Tightest, Tighter, Balance, and Relax. With the High-Efficiency Mode enabled you can further reduce the latency by 8% while boosting game performance up to 8% versus just using OPP.

Finally, we have MSI's Memory Try It! feature which when combined with the High-Efficiency Mode (Tighter profile) delivers a 3-10% performance boost across several games at 1080p. You can see that the mode sets the timings to CL28-35-35-60 which results in higher performance since games still prefer tighter timings versus relaxed timings (with higher bandwidth).

These are some nice uplifts in gaming performance and if you are running an MSI motherboard with an AMD Ryzen 9000 CPU, then make sure to have updated to the latest BIOS to gain benefit from these exclusive features.
