The current Chief Technology Officer, Mira Murati, was named interim CEO with immediate effect shortly after the firing of OpenAI’s former Chief Executive, Sam Altman. Murati has expressed disdain over this decision and has openly sided with her ex-boss, and with her latest post, which says that OpenAI is nothing without its people, a resignation letter might be handed over from her side soon.

Mira Murati’s colleagues are now working at Microsoft, suggesting that she might be heading to the software giant too

From the look of things, Murati is not too pleased with the appointment of former Twitch CEO Emmett Shear as the interim Chief Executive of OpenAI. She recently put out a post on X, saying ‘OpenAI is nothing without its people,’ likely in response to the firing of Sam Altman and the resignation of co-founder Greg Brockman. Fortunately, both individuals have been recruited by Microsoft, with CEO Satya Nadella putting out a post saying that they will team up with colleagues to form an advanced AI research team, though additional details as to what product or service will launch in the future were not discussed.

With Murati being vocal over the termination of Sam Altman and the subsequent resignations of key OpenAI executives, she will likely hand over her letter, re-joining Altman, Greg Brockman, and other former employees to push whatever Microsoft aims to achieve with its newly formed AI research team. She has not provided her thoughts on Shear, but given that she has to report to him directly for the time being, she may not want to cause any more trouble within OpenAI.

Evidence of Murati openly supporting Altman was when she replied with a blue heart emoji when the former CEO posted on X ,‘i love the openai team so much.’ With the founding members of OpenAI no longer around, it remains to be seen what happens to the company that launched ChatGPT, one of the fastest-growing services in the world, with 100 million monthly users at the time of writing.
