Finally, a good change. This should now make the search content more relevant and less like a promotional window.

Microsoft is Finally Cleaning up Windows Search, Removing Promotional Content

Nobody loves the annoying promotional content in the Windows Search tab, which exists to solve users' queries. Thankfully, Microsoft is now removing it, addressing one of the biggest complaints about Windows Search. This will make users find the apps, files, and settings easier as this redesigns the experience to focus on what users actually want.

The updated Search experience will now prioritize local results, allowing users to easily find the apps, files, folders, and system settings. As published in an official blog, Windows has stated that it has now removed the Promotional content from the web results:

Promotional content has been removed from web results. Web results show the most relevant answer, instead of first showing related products and promotions, helping search feel more focused and less distracting.

Microsoft says that users will now be able to control the web as well as the Microsoft Store results more than ever. By going to Settings > Privacy & Security > Search, users can now choose whether they want to see web and Microsoft Store suggestions appear alongside the local results. New options will allow users to disable Bing web search results and Microsoft Store recommendations.

Windows will prioritize the local results, which means easier to find the stuff users are looking for. Beyond visual improvements, Microsoft is also enhancing Search's overall functionality by letting the system understand partial search terms, spelling mistakes, and incomplete queries better than ever. These are the latest changes by Microsoft, which are an effort to improve the overall Windows experience.
