MediaTek has been making strides with its top and mid-tier smartphone chips. The Dimensity 9300 looks like an impressive chipset, and the MediaTek Dimensity 8300 Ultra is no different. This is definitely good because with the company stepping up, we are finally going to see other companies also making sure that the competing chipsets have what it takes to deliver equal or better performance.
The MediaTek Dimensity 8300 Ultra makes a strong case for mid-range smartphones
Today, we get the chance to look at the energy efficiency curve of the MediaTek Dimensity 8300 Ultra during Geekbench 5, and the CPU is compared with Dimensity 8200, Dimensity 9000, Snapdragon 8+ Gen,1, and Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2, and the results that you see might surprise you because it does appear that MediaTek has a winner at its hand. Have a look at the comparison below:

MediaTek Dimensity 8300 Ultra, as you can see in the shared images above, leads against all the chipsets despite being a mid-tier chip. The performance is better across the board, and not just that. In the second image, you can see that the chipset has a better GPU than both the Dimensity 9000 and the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. This definitely shows great progress when compared to the past chips, and we can expect to see it getting better as we go forward.
The MediaTek Dimensity 8300 also brings several AI capabilities, and phones sporting the chipset are already hitting the market and should be available in international markets in the near future. Honestly, I am really surprised and pleased by the fact that this mid-range chipset is actually a capable performer. This definitely makes it a worthy contender, and not just that, but it also proves that mid-range phones are going to be viable once again. For years, we have seen how the gap between flagship and mid-range performance is slowly growing smaller, and this is just more proof of this progress.
