LG is reported to post its highest operating profit in 15 quarters thanks to increased iPhone 17 demand
Surging demand for the iPhone 17 is finally rewarding one of Apple's long-term display suppliers

Apple’s focus this year on improving the iPhone 17 by outfitting it with a couple of upgrades while maintaining the same price has not just boosted demand but also benefited one of the company’s display suppliers, LG. According to the latest rumor, the increased OLED orders will allow the Korean manufacturer to post its highest operating profit in 15 quarters, or almost four years.

New data states LG will ship 45.6 million iPhone 17 display units, with its projected operating profit said to reach $332.4 million

A report from DDaily mentions that LG is expected to smile all the way to the bank because of the influx of display orders, thanks to increased demand for iPhone 17. Based on the data from UBI Research, the OLED panel manufacturer is estimated to supply 45.6 million units, while Samsung has been tasked with providing 78 million units.

The increased display orders translate into higher revenue and operating profit, and LG is on track to post a record figure in 15 quarters. According to Daishin Securities, the company’s estimated operating profit for the Q3 2025 period will be 448 billion won, or approximately $332.4 million, from the 6.87 trillion won in revenue generated, which translates to $5.1 billion.

The display maker is also slated to enjoy next year’s earnings, with LG estimated to generate around 1 trillion won, or $741.9 million. Of course, keep in mind that these figures are based on current iPhone 17 demand, and if that number starts to dwindle, so will LG’s earnings. Regardless, it is remarkable that a single customer can turn around a supplier’s fortunes, but that is entirely possible if you have a close business relationship with Apple.

Base iPhone 17 sticks to the same $799 starting price but undercuts the competition with its insane value

For those who have not been keeping track, the iPhone 17 is Apple’s best ‘price to performance’ launch in years, with the device sporting the A19 SoC manufactured on TSMC’s newest 3nm ‘N3P’ process, while also sporting double the internal memory at 256GB. However, we have discussed previously that its LTPO OLED upgrade is a massive deal and puts this model in the same conversation as the more expensive ‘Pro’ variants.

Here is the best part: Apple kept the price unchanged at $799, matching the iPhone 16’s figure while outfitting it with a multitude of hardware improvements. If this slew of changes does not encourage demand, then we do not know what will. At this time, there are very few alternatives that can match what the iPhone 17 offers, and that is what is ultimately rewarding LG.
