The news comes from the investment bank Piper Jaffray's semiannual "Taking Stock With Teens" survey. The survey was conducted with around 8,000 high school students and the male to female ratio was 54 percent to 46 percent, respectively. Furthermore, the average age of teenagers was recorded to be 16.3 years.
Apart from this, 86 percent of teenagers in the United States expect their next upgrade to be an iPhone. The scale of the iPhone's popularity has seen growth over the past few years. In the spring of 2016, the metric was 75 percent.
There are a lot of reasons why the iPhone's popularity is growing over the years. Mainly, Apple's ecosystem has a lot to do with it as it locks users to certain services like Apple Music, iMessages, iCloud and more. The survey also feigns interest in the percentage of users who own a smartwatch in the United States. It was found that 27 percent of users own a smartwatch while 22 percent are planning to get the Apple Watch in the next six months.
