iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus go official

The base iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus might have retained the same display sizes as their direct predecessors, the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, but Apple made slight changes to the design while also introducing a new A18 chipset that delivers incredible performance gains. Best of all, both handsets support Apple Intelligence and come in a wave of attractive new colors, plus more changes, which you will learn about right now.

New thermal design is present in the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, allowing them to keep their temperatures sustained when playing AAA games

Apple has retained a 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch display for the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, and just like the previous-generation models, there is no ProMotion support meaning that none of these two offer high refresh rate displays. Thankfully, the remaining hardware that we will talk about will most likely make you forget about the lack of an LTPO panel on the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus. Aside from the Action button, Apple has added a new Camera Control that triggers when you slide your finger. The company says that the new Ceramic Shield is now 50 percent tougher and twice as strong as any other glass present on a smartphone.

The new A18 chipset ushers in a new level of performance thanks to its 6-core CPU configuration, which features two performance and four efficiency cores. In addition, the chipset features a new 16-core Neural Engine that is capable enough to run Apple Intelligence, along with a 5-core GPU that can handle graphically demanding tasks such as running AAA games. Speaking of running AAA games, Apple has supposedly incorporated a capable thermal solution that helps the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus reduce their temperatures, allowing them to deliver sustained performance.

Coming to the cameras, both the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus ship with a 48MP primary rear camera with sensor-shift stabilization technology and a wide F/1.6 aperture that captures more light. As for the ultrawide-angle unit, Apple has used a 12MP shooter that can now take in 260 percent more light, and like previous ‘Pro’ models, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus support macro photography. As for the pricing, the regular model starts from $799, while the ‘Plus’ variant will set you back by $899.

Keep in mind that Apple has not changed the prices from last time, and the storage starts from 128GB of capacity, with a higher 256GB version offered too. Both the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will be available in five colors. Pre-orders start from this Friday, with the models officially available on September 20.
