Intel's highly-anticipated Panther Lake SoCs have finally made an appearance in public, as Team Blue displays the CPU tile at Embedded World 2025.
Intel's Panther Lake "Close-Up" Die Shots Appear Online, Revealing The Elegant Tile Configuration
Well, it seems like Team Blue is pretty pumped up to launch the next generation of its mobile SoCs, and after a series of delay rumors, PTL is on track and ready to dominate the market. At the "Embedded World 2025" event held in Germany, PC Games Hardware managed to spot Panther Lake CPUs displayed to the public, marking the first time we have seen SoCs on such a platform. Prior to this, the tiles were confined to the hands of the likes of Intel's former CEO Pat Gelsinger, but now, we have finally entered the timeline where PTL is set to show its prowess.
Intel's "Core Ultra 300" mobile platform is a significant release for Team Blue, given that it will mark the first occasion where we will see Intel's 18A process in action. This semiconductor will basically dictate the future of the Intel Foundry, which is why the industry has its eyes set on the Panther Lake and its potential performance in the consumer market. Initially, Intel plans to launch the Panther Lake-H lineup, which is said to be the first entrant in the mobile segment, potentially followed by HX variants as well.
Based on what we know about Panther Lake up until now, the "Core Ultra 300" SKUs are set to feature Cougar Cove P-Cores and Skymont E-Cores. The onboard iGPU will likely feature the third major Xe architecture update, Xe3, which is codenamed Celestial, the successor to Battlemage. The core counts are expected to reach 16 cores, arriving with up to 180 TOPS AI power and much more.
Intel has reaffirmed that PTL will launch by H2 2025, with consumer products dropping into the market by 2026. This means that next year's CES is likely where we will see the lineup in a showcase. It is certainly going to be a huge task for Team Blue to nail the release, given that it is more important than ever this time.
