Among the most interesting PlayStation 4 exclusive games coming in the future is the new open world Spider-Man game currently in development by Insomniac. We haven't heard much about the game in the past few months, but it seems like we won't just be learning more about it in the future.

In a recent livestream, Vice President of Marvel’s Digital Media Group Ryan Penagos talked about the Marvel games coming this year, mentioning that both Insomniac's Spider-Man and the fighting game Marvel Vs. Capcom Infinite will release in 2017. If Spider-Man indeed launches this year, we will definitely learn more about the game very soon. This seems like an obvious move, considering that Spider-Man Homecoming is due to launch in July; clearly, the game could benefit from launching close to the movie or at least near the availability on DVD/Blu-ray.

Insomniac's Spider-Man promises to shake things up for the popular Marvel hero, introducing some changes to the character's design and more which will be fully explained during the course of the game.

One day, when the time is right, we will go into great depth about why certain decisions were made. But one thing I can say now is that extensive thought was applied from the top of his mask to the bottom of his feet. We know how much people love Spider-Man and his costume. In my opinion, it’s the best-designed super hero costume of all-time. If you’re going to alter it, you have to understand what the original design achieved and be very thoughtful and have a reason for everything. Another thing I want to say is that Insomniac and Marvel are known as great storytellers, and there is story behind everything in the game, and as the months go on, we will dig into all of that.

Spider-Man launches on a yet to be confirmed release date on PlayStation 4.
