Starfield – Where to Find the Katana to Become a Proper Space Ronin

Francesco De Meo
Starfield

Starfield features a huge selection of weapons that allows you to fight the many enemies you encounter on your search for the Artifacts in a lot of different ways. The selection also includes melee weapons that may not be particularly flashy but that can still deal a lot of damage with the right build.

If you have picked the Ronin background for your character and really want to play the part properly, you will need to get yourself a Katana or two. Here's where to find a particularly powerful one.

Where to Find The Katana in Starfield

In Starfield, you are able to obtain a variety of different gear, including weapons, by just taking them from defeated enemies, but that is not actually the case for the Katana, or rather, the Wakizashi, as no common enemy uses one. The fastest and most convenient way to get one is to purchase it in Neon, but if you have learned a specific skill, you could get an Epic Wakizashi, the Syndicate Enforcer, that can be devastatingly powerful with the proper build. This melee weapon deals more damage the less armor one has and randomly applies bleeding to targets, so if the idea of engaging enemies with little to no protection suits you, this is the weapon to get.

The Syndicate Enforcer can be obtained fairly early in the Starfield campaign, as you just need to be able to reach the city of Neon, which is located in the Volii system to the east of Alpha Centauri. Being so close to your main headquarters in New Atlantis, you will not need a powerful Grav Drive to reach it. Another prerequisite is the Thief skill, as you will need to steal a key card from an NPC via pickpocketing.

Once in Neon, you need to reach the Ebbside part of the city by using the entrance near the Volii Hotel. Once in the new part of the city, head to the left and proceed further until you reach the Frankies Grab + Go shop. Here, loot the Syndicate Hideout keycard from the cashier and open the sealed door in the back of the shop to enter the Seokguh Syndicate Hideout.

If you don't have a bounty on your head for the Syndicate, the NPCs inside will not bother you, allowing you to get the Syndicate Enforcer easily. It is located inside a weapon crate in the middle of a room that can be reached by heading up the stairs, taking the right stairs, and navigating the corridors until reaching a room with gym equipment. Here, drop down and proceed to find the weapon crate, and make sure to open it up when no one is looking to avoid getting caught stealing and making some annoying enemies.
