Remnant II: The Forgotten Kingdom – How to Unlock the Invoker Archetype

Remnant II The Forgotten Kingdom

One of the focuses of the recent RPG-shooter Remnant II is build crafting, with the game’s Archetypes (the game’s name for classes) being at the core of that experience. The new Remnant II: The Forgotten Kingdom DLC adds a additional Archetype, the Invoker, and like many of the game’s classes, it needs to be unlocked in a very specific way, but don’t worry, we’ve taken the mystery out of it.

In order to switch to a new Archetype or set up a dual-class character you’ll need to unlock them by acquiring a special item called an “Engram.” These Engrams are equippable items crafted by Wallace (the guy up on the crane in the Ward 13 hub) in exchange for 10 Lumenite Crystals, 1000 Scrap, and one special item, each of which is acquired in a different way. Here’s how to unlock the Ritualist Archetype with a minimum of Frustration…

Invoker

Engram needed – Spirit Flute

Special crafting item needed – Old Flute

  • Step 1 – The Remnant II: The Awakened King DLC takes place in Yaesha, beginning at new checkpoint, the Glittering Grotto. From here, simply play through the first leg of the new DLC campaign in the Ancient Canopy area and defeat the first boss, the Cinderclad Monolith. After doing this, you’ll find yourself at the Abandoned Citadel checkpoint. Run ahead and you’ll find a lever, which you can pull to lower a large spiral staircase and statue.
  • Step 2 – Turn around, and head down the passage to your right, activate the elevator, and go down. Run toward the staircase you just lowered, and head down. Take a left, and head down three ladders, until you reach very bottom floor. You’ll be in a sort of basement area.
  • Step 3 – Look around for an illuminated door in this basement area. Head in, and you’ll find a trap room filled with sand and continually firing arrow traps. You have to get to the other side of the room. The easiest thing to do is get right up against the wall with the arrow shooters, and simply time your movements – wait until the arrows fire, then scoot by one set of shooters. Repeat.
  • Step 4 – Once you get to the other side of the room, you’ll find the Disciple Armor Set in a cubby in the back. Obviously you’re going to want to pick this up.
  • Step 5 – Okay, now to actually get the Old Flute. As you were making your way across the room, you may have noticed two of the arrow shooters weren’t working, creating a narrow safe zone. Now move to the back-right corner of the room. You’ll notice two sand piles.
  • Step 6 – Here’s where things get weird. If you stand roughly between the sand piles, you will notice yourself slowly sinking. Take your hands off the controller and remain in place for around five minutes (yes, really) and you’ll eventually fall through the floor. You’ll awaken in a new room, where the Old Flute can be found sitting on an altar. Now return to Wallace in Ward 13 to craft the Spirit Flute!

And there you go, the Invoker is yours! It’s a pretty powerful Archetype, well suited to co-op play, that can boost the potency and duration of spells.

Remnant II is available now on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5. The Forgotten Kingdom DLC is available as part of the game’s Deluxe and Ultimate Editions or can be purchased a la carte for $10. You can check out Wccftech’s Remnant II guides here.
