The first Android 15 Developer Preview introduced a handful of new features, and the one feature that managed to catch my attention was the Notification Cooldown. Honestly, after hearing about it, I started wondering why this feature was not introduced before because it makes so much sense. If you are giving the latest Android 15 Developer Preview a try and figuring out how to turn on the notification cooldown on Android 15. In that case, this is for you since we are going to focus on what steps you need to take to enable it on your device.

Now, it is worth noting that notification cooldown does exactly what it states - it lowers the sounds and feedback of consecutive notifications from the same app. So, if your friends like to blow up your Instagram, WhatsApp, or any other app, you can just turn on the notification cooldown and avoid being constantly overwhelmed by the barrage of incoming notifications.

Turn on the notification cooldown on Android 15 and avoid sensory overload

Now, it goes without saying that you will need a Pixel phone with the developer preview installed if you wish to turn on notification cooldown on Android 15. It is also worth noting that this feature could come out to more devices in the future as a part of their own update or the Android 15 update that respective companies aim to launch.

In its current state, the notification cooldown feature can be applied to all notifications or conversations. It is not complicated, but we are still going to tell you how to turn it on.

Step 1: On your Pixel device, simply head over to Settings.

Step 2: Once you are there, scroll down and find Notifications.

Step 3: Right at the bottom, you will find the Notification cooldown option. Tap on that.

Step 4: Tap on it again and now choose your option from

  • Apply cooldown to all notifications
  • Apply cooldown to conversations
  • Don’t use notification cooldown

Once you have made the choice, you are all done. You have successfully managed to turn on the notification cooldown on Android 15. From this point onwards, you will not have issues with annoying notifications distracting you every time you are trying to accomplish a task that you have set out to do. Do keep in mind that the feature is only available on the Android 15 Developer Preview, and it is going to be some time before it starts becoming commonplace on other devices.
