Apple is working on generative AI technology, which will be introduced with an update later next year. It was previously reported that Apple has big plans for iOS 18 as it would incorporate generative AI technology within various aspects of the operating system. It is now reported that Apple is potentially working on a HomePod model with a curved LCD. The upgrade could feature AI functionality if the company launches the device next year.
The future version of the HomePod could feature a curved LCD on top for notifications and support for Apple Music album art.
As mentioned, similar to OpenAi's ChatGPT, Apple is working on generative AI technology, which will be part of Apple products later next year. However, while details are scarce, Apple has neglected Siri for a long time, and it appears that things are about to change. Apple is potentially working on a HomePod with a curved LCD on the top, according to "Kosutami" on X.
The future version of the HomePod is codenamed B720 and features the same general design language as the original HomePod. However, the top portion of the smart speaker features a curved, convex LCD, which will show controls and possibly additional content. This is not the first time we have heard details on the upgraded HomePod, as the tipster shared images of various parts of the prototype HomePod with a touch screen.
While it appears to be a minor upgrade over the current version of the HomePod, the company is allegedly planning to make Apple Music and Apple Podcast applications compatible with the new convex LCD. The display could show blurred animations based on the color of the album art while playing. Additionally, Apple could also program the display to show notifications.

Altogether, the rumored HomePod appears to be a decent upgrade. However, we have yet to see a version of the HomePod with a more prominent display, which has been rumored for a while. The redesigned HomePod is expected to feature a more prominent display and cameras for FaceTime. Industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo stated that Apple could release a redesigned HomePod in the first half of 2024. The device is slated to house a 7-inch display, potentially running a toned-down version of iOS.
According to Mark Gurman, the company also has plans to release a hybrid device, combining the capabilities of the Apple TV and the HomePod. The device would feature a robotic arm with an adjustable screen. There have been no details surrounding the device for a while, and it is unclear if the company is indeed working on it. However, it is too early to speculate, as the company could be testing a higher-end version of the HomePod.
