Halo Infinite may not be called Halo 6, but the next entry in the series by 343 Industries should be considered as such.

Speaking with GameSpot, 343’s Jeff Easterling confirmed that Halo Infinite has to be considered as Halo 6 since it’s the next chapter in the story.

You should just consider it Halo 6. Don’t think of it as a weird prequel kind of thing. It’s the next story. It’s the next chapter in what is going on.

Very little is currently known about the next entry in the series, other than the fact that SkyBox Software, developer of Halo 5: Forge, among other things, is helping 343 with the game’s development. We also know that the game will have a bigger focus on Master Chief.

Master Chief returns in the next chapter of the legendary franchise in Halo Infinite. Developed by 343 Industries and created with the studio’s new Slipspace Engine, Halo Infinite debuted at the Xbox E3 2018 Briefing with a thrilling engine demo that provides a glimpse into the future of the Halo franchise that leads it into new and unexpected directions.

Halo Infinite is in development for PC and Xbox One. A release date has yet to be confirmed.
