Google Maps is looking to make your navigation easier when you are using Android Auto as the platform has started working on the ability to show 3D buildings while you are in the navigation in both Android Auto and the Mobile app.
Google Maps wants you to have an easier time navigating with 3D buildings coming to Android Auto, Android, and iOS
At the time of writing, if you want to access 3D buildings, you will have to turn them on in Google Maps. However, they have not shown up in navigation, but Google is apparently working on changing that, and that is certainly the right move.
Several users have started reporting that Google Maps on both Android and iOS now show 3D buildings during navigation. You will have to enable 3D view before starting the navigation and zoom in on the maps a bit to make sure that everything is appearing. It is worth noting that the feature is not available to everyone, and we are not sure when this will be rolling out to everyone. You can have a look at the screenshots below:

Some people are even getting 3D buildings in Android Auto when using Google Maps, and the feature is not showing up for everyone. However, a Reddit user shared pictures of the maps, and you can see how the navigation now shows you 3D buildings, which makes the whole process a lot more streamlined for everyone.
As mentioned before, the feature is not rolling out to everyone, so you are going to have to wait before your version of Google Maps starts showing this feature. With that said, it definitely is a good thing that the company has started rolling this feature out because we believe that it would be helpful for a lot of people to have an easier time navigating, especially in cities where there are a lot of buildings. We will keep you posted once the feature hits the global rollout.
