Newer Z890 models from GIGABYTE have arrived, alongside new features for boosting performance.
GIGABYTE Unveils Z890 PLUS Series Motherboards, Featuring "Exclusive" Ultra Turbo Mode for Unlocking Core Ultra 200S Plus CPUs and D5 Duo X for Boosting Memory Performance
As Intel launches the Arrow Lake "Refresh" series CPUs, motherboard vendors like GIGABYTE have announced their newest motherboard models, specially tuned for the new chips. GIGABYTE previously showcased some newer models at CES in January that were designed to support the refreshed chips out of the box. The company has now launched those models along with some more, boasting new technologies to improve performance.
The GIGABYTE Z890 Plus series will have motherboard models released under four different series: Elite, EAGLE, FORCE, and Duo X. The Duo X is the latest family in GIGABYTE's catalog that brings a special technology called D5 Duo X (for 2-DIMM configuration), which aims at increasing the memory capacity without compromising the frequency and stability. These models will support the latest CQDIMM memory, which GIGABYTE previously demonstrated reaching 6400 MT/s on a 256 GB DDR5 memory kit. ASRock also demonstrated up to 7400 MT/s on a 256 GB CQDIMM memory kit recently.
As per GIGABYTE, the Duo X models will be able to support high frequency on 4-slot configurations and have collaborated with popular memory makers such as ADATA, TeamGroup, and V-Color to ensure full compatibility with CQDIMM memory kits. Apart from D5 Dual X, the new Plus series motherboards will bring an exclusive Ultra Turbo Mode feature for the new processors that can reportedly unlock up to 40% performance in a single click. The feature will offer three different profiles to choose from:
- LV1 Intel 200S Boost
- LV2 Intel Turbo Mode
- LV3 Extreme Mode
In the footnotes, GIGABYTE says the 40% improvement was seen in Hitman 3 with APO enabled with a configuration that involved the Core Ultra 7 270K Plus and DDR5 memory running at 10266 MT/s. All the new motherboards will support the Ultra Turbo Mode for easy optimizations, and with up to Digital Twin 16+1+2 phase VRM, these motherboards are reportedly sufficient to sustain such performance at full load while maintaining good thermals.
GIGABYTE is retaining the EZ-DIY features on the new models for an easier assembly process and will also bring the latest connectivity features onboard, such as WiFi 7 and 5G LAN. Currently, we can see two models already live on GIGABYTE's official website. These are the Z890 AORUS ELITE WiFi7 PLUS and Z890 EAGLE WiFi7 Plus. The rest should be launched soon.
