Prototype images for Fold 6 and Flip 6 show screen crease to be still visibile

With the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 rolling out at the Galaxy Unpacked 2024, the ongoing leaks and prototypes have provided some key information regarding the design and specifications. This is not the first time that the prototype images of the upcoming series have surfaced. However, the recent leaked pictures of the dummy units showcase the inner and outer display of the devices, revealing particulars about the screen crease.

The latest leaked prototype images of Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 display a noticeable screen crease, contrary to the previous speculations

The latest leak via Sonny Dickson, as reported by 9to5Google, gives us greater insight into the design for both foldables. It looks like the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and the Flip 6 would not have major differentiating elements from their predecessors, and the crease issue still seems to persist with the sixth generation of the Fold series.

Looking at the dummy units, the design changes seem incremental at best. The initial reports suggested a wider aspect ratio for the new series, which now seems inaccurate. One thing that is confirmed through the pictures is the boxier design and more edgy corners to make these display specifics stay consistent till now.

Samsung users long hoped for the display crease to be reduced and relied on this change to be incorporated in the upcoming Fold models. However, the dummy units suggest the crease visibility is not going away any time soon. The leaks pointing towards the company using an Ultra Thin Glass (UTG) for the Flip and Fold 6 might not be as reliable. The UTG was to help the tech giant make the screen more durable and also sport a new hinge format to reduce the crease.

The Galaxy Z Flip 6 could sport a new main camera sensor as the camera array on the back seems more prominent than on the Flip 5. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 is wider than the Fold 5 and has a triple-camera layout on the rear side with the fingerprint on the right side of the device. The pictures also further highlight that the devices will be slimmer and lighter than their previous versions.

Since these are just prototype images, chances are the final version will be noticeably different and could eliminate the issues in the design process. We are hopeful that the official unveiling will undergo a lot of refinement and might live up to the expectations of a reduced crease after all.
