With Galaxy Unpacked 2024 merely a few weeks away, the rumor mills have already unpacked much about the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip and Z Fold 6. While the book-style design was previously confirmed for the Fold series, there have been relatively fewer speculations regarding the Z Flip 6. Now, the latest Geekbench benchmarks reveal the device's performance and the software, which will be running out of the box.
The Galaxy Z Flip 6 will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip with an impressive gain in performance compared to its predecessor
According to the Geekbench listing, the Z Flip 6 will come with 12GB RAM, a huge jump from its predecessor, which had 8GB RAM storage. This confirms previous speculations about the new model boasting a higher RAM count, and the company's new Galaxy AI feature might have something to do with it.
The Flip 6 has a model number SM-F741B, which is the variant for North American and European markets. In the listing, the CPU data has four clusters of units pointing towards a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, which will be equipped with more power than the Galaxy Z Flip 5. The chip will bolster a higher clock speed of 3.40 GHz powered by a Cortex-X4 core, significantly boosting performance.
One other important element in the Geekbench information revealed the performance gains that we should be looking forward to with the device. The device features a single-core score of 2,247 and a multi-core score of 6,857, which is a 13.2 percent and 30 percent increase in overall performance, respectively, compared to the current models. The Flip 6 marks a prominent improvement on the benchmark front and can be a good indicator of promising performance, given how generative AI technology is a demanding aspect.
Speculation regarding the specifications of the Z Flip 6 points towards a 50MP primary camera, a 3.4-inch cover display, a 6.7-inch main AMOLED foldable display, and a 120Hz refresh rate. The Galaxy Z Flip 6 would come with a 4,000 mAh battery, significantly higher than the Flip 5. While we do not yet have information on the charging speed, we can expect it to follow a similar pattern to its previous version, and the dimensions would also not vary much from the Flip 5 as well.
Similar to the Fold series, the new Z Flip 6 will also see a price hike, possibly because of the new Galaxy AI features coming with the devices. It is expected to start at $1,100, with rumors suggesting users can buy double the storage at the same price for the first two weeks after the announcement. This hefty price would mark a new high as this is the first time Samsung would be going for a four-figure selling price for the Flip series base model.
