Samsung sticking with the same 5,000mAh battery on the Galaxy S26 Ultra as the company’s previous flagships would have made buyers livid, as they likely had the impression that the company was taking an ultra-conservative approach while its rivals were advancing with high-capacity silicon-carbon batteries. However, little did they know that Samsung’s latest and greatest has incredible endurance, with a battery drain test showing that the device can hold out quite well against the competition.
Surprisingly, the iPhone 17 Pro Max meets its match as the Galaxy S26 Ultra manages to successfully outlast its smartphone rival
The popular YouTuber Mrwhosetheboss put the Galaxy S26 Ultra through a battery drain gauntlet, with the flagship facing off against six other flagships, including its closest rival in this space, the iPhone 17 Pro Max. During the test, the content creator showed concern that the latest entrant from Samsung wouldn’t last as long as the rest of the pack, but we were in for a surprise because the Galaxy S26 Ultra managed to secure third position.
The only two smartphones to outlast Samsung’s flagship were the OPPO Find X9 Pro and OnePlus 15, both equipped with a silicon-carbon cell. Even the non-eSIM version of the iPhone 17 Pro Max ends up powering down faster than the Galaxy S26 Ultra, indicating that it isn’t just the size of the battery but a ton of optimization that requires routine work. If you want to see the runtimes of each flagship from the test without going through the entire video, the list is given below.
- OPPO Find X9 Pro (7,500mAh) - 14 hours and 16 minutes
- OnePlus 15 (7,300mAh) - 12 hours and 55 minutes
- Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra (5,000mAh) - 12 hours
- Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max non-eSIM (4,823mAh) - 11 hours and 32 minutes
- Xiaomi 17 Ultra (6,800mAh) - 11 hours and 27 minutes
- Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra (5,000mAh) - 10 hours and 43 minutes
- Google Pixel 10 Pro XL (5,200mAh) - 9 hours and 53 minutes
If you ever doubted the Galaxy S26 Ultra or Samsung, perhaps this test will change your mind. Also, if battery life is at the top of your priority list, then today is your lucky day. Amazon is currently running an insanely salivating offer where customers will get twice the internal storage without paying extra, but they’ll also get a $200 gift card. Also, if you want the Galaxy S26 Ultra, gift card, and Galaxy Buds4 Pro bundle at 15 percent off, Amazon is providing a limited-time offer here, but you’ll have to hurry as this promotion will be over soon.
