Android 14 became the first OS update to bring support for Ultra HDR, a new feature that would allow users to capture and view HDR photos and videos on their device instead of SDR. Ever since then, the feature has rolled out to some Android phones, but it appears that Samsung will be bringing the latest feature to the Galaxy S24 series, and it will be a part of its One UI 6.0 update that will be rolling out by the end of this year, as well.

Viewing content on the Galaxy S24 series will be a treat thanks to Ultra HDR

The tip suggests that the Galaxy S24 will have native support for Ultra HDR, which will essentially allow users to view HDR content in the gallery app. Considering how the new phones are tipped to pack really bright screens that will go as high as 2,500 nits or beyond, having this feature will definitely make it better.

There is no denying that Ultra HDR coming to the Galaxy S24 is good news, but the thing that I am not sure about is whether this feature is going to be available on older Galaxy devices that are still capable of delivering the experience. Considering how this feature might be tied to One UI 6.0, it will be interesting to see if it actually makes its way towards the older devices. Another thing to note is that so far, we have not seen this feature on the One UI 6.0 beta versions that are available, so it might take some time before it is fully prepared.

Still, whatever the case might be, it definitely is a great thing that Samsung is focusing on bringing a feature that could easily be overlooked as vanity to the Galaxy S24 series. I really hope the same feature makes its way to older devices, especially on the devices that do have support for it because it will still make them excellent and viable options for anyone who does not want to buy a higher-end device.
