Foxconn was rumored to lose out on an exclusive deal for iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max orders this year, but according to one tipster, it will remain Apple’s chief supplier. However, Luxshare is said to be added to the supply chain, even though it will occupy a significantly smaller role. Nonetheless, we will argue that if the partner proves itself over the years, Apple may consider tasking it with more responsibility.
One non-Pro iPhone 15 model will also be assembled by Foxconn
Some information regarding the iPhone 15 series’ codenames and their respective manufacturers was provided by @URedditor. He also mentions that Foxconn and Luxshare will fulfill orders for all four models slated to launch later this year. As for the codenames and unique model identifiers, those details are given below:
- iPhone 15 - D37 - Spyder
- iPhone 15 Plus - D38 - Shasta
- iPhone 15 Pro - D83 - Vantage
- iPhone 15 Pro Max - D84 - Veyron
According to @URedditor, the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max orders will be provided by Foxconn, while Luxshare will complete iPhone 15 Plus orders. It is possible that Apple will require fewer units of the iPhone 15 Plus this year as it anticipates lower demand for this model. Since Luxshare is not the assembling powerhouse that is Foxconn, assigning it just a single model is the right move for Apple.

One advantage to this strategy is that Apple will be able to get better pricing on the remaining iPhone 15 models that Foxconn is rumored to provide. The Chinese supply chain partner would likely complete its responsibilities based on Apple’s stringent deadlines as it hopes to gain iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max, and iPhone 16 Ultra orders next year. The biggest mistake it can make is failing to meet demand, which will force Apple to assign other companies, such as Pegatron, to make up for those orders.
The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are said to launch with more exclusive features than the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, suggesting that consumers will pick these up in droves, thus picking up demand. Foxconn will likely ensure that whatever supply chain disruptions happened last year do not show up again, giving it the opportunity to close the year with more revenue. The manufacturer is said to kick off a trial production run of the iPhone 15 series, so we will get to know more about these devices in the coming months.
