Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave, a new entry in the TRPG series by Intelligent Systems, is launching on Nintendo Switch 2 sometime next year.
The new entry in the series was officially confirmed at the end of today's Nintendo Direct with a trailer providing a quick overview of the game's setting, main characters, and turn-based combat system, which, at a glance, should look very familiar to fans of the series. Although unconfirmed, it looks like Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave will be some sort of sequel to Fire Emblem: Three Houses, as, at the end of the trailer, we got a look at Sothis, the mysterious girl with whom only main character Byleth could communicate with in the older entry in the series.
As it has been a very long time since we got a proper new entry in the series, the announcement of Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave is rather welcome, but it doesn't exactly come as a surprise. Back in July, we learned that a new entry in the series was likely in development for Nintendo Switch 2, thanks to the LinkedIn profile of a 3D character modeler. The fact that the game was called on this profile the sequel of a Nintendo Tactical role-playing game also reinforces the idea that Fortune's Weave will indeed be a sequel to Three Houses as Sothis' presence in the trailer suggests.
Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave launches on Nintendo Switch 2 next year. A precise release date has yet to be confirmed.
