[UPDATE] The Final Fantasy VII Rebirth demo can now be downloaded via PSN. Additionally, we've got a fresh hands-on article from the latest media preview event.

[ORIGINAL STORY] The previously discovered Final Fantasy VII Rebirth demo will be available later today on PlayStation 5, likely after the new State of Play live stream. A listing for the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth demo, along with a trailer, was discovered by Internet sleuth extraordinaire Wario64. According to the details, players will be able to step into the shoes of Cloud or Sephiroth during the Nibelheim episode.

The download button for the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth demo might look already active, but Wario64 said it actually downloads the original Final Fantasy VII right now, so you'd better hold on. The State of Play will air on YouTube at 3:30 PM Pacific Time, 6:30 PM Eastern Time, or 23:30 GMT. It will be around twenty minutes in length.

The game is the second chapter in the planned Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy. Releasing nearly four years after the previous game, it will continue right where the plot ended, with the party's escape from Midgar. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will offer much greater opportunity for exploration thanks to the open ended playable environments, which were partly a response to criticism of the Final Fantasy VII remake's linearity. To that end, the team was also inspired by open world games like The Witcher 3 and Horizon Zero Dawn.

There will be many side quests and even minigames to enjoy. Overall, the game's size and scope will be massive, with an estimated requirement of a hundred hours to be fully completed.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is a timed exclusive for PlayStation 5. The ads have shown it is technically exclusive until May 29, though of course, that doesn't mean it will land on PC right away. Still, this should be a great year for Final Fantasy fans on PC, given that FFXVI should also land on the platform at some point.
