If you're a fan of sci-fi stories like Blade Runner or Cyberpunk 2077, then it's likely you've heard of a game that seems like a mix of both of them with a bit of western flair, ExeKiller. Also known as a 'CyberWestern,' this first-person action-adventure game has been in development for a number of years now, and while its latest milestone update doesn't provide a release window, it does provide some assurance that the game will actually make it over the finish line.
That's because the game has a new publisher in 505 Games, the same publisher whose parent company recently purchased the rights to WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers. The announcement was made on the game's Steam page, where players can add ExeKiller to their wishlist if they want to keep an eye on its development. ExeKiller was previously set to be published by Null Games, though as described by Paradark, the company dropped ExeKiller following a decision to "step away from game publishing."
"It's been a while since our last Dev Diary, but today we've got some big news to share," the studio wrote. "We're excited to announce that we've partnered with 505 Games, who will be publishing ExeKiller on PC via Steam."
"The road to release isn't always straightforward. As some of you may remember, ExeKiller was originally announced with a different publishing partner. After they decided to step away from game publishing, we took the time to find the right home for ExeKiller. Today, we're excited to continue that journey together with 505 Games."
The studio continues by saying this publishing deal is "a huge milestone" for Paradark, and adds that all this means for ExeKiller is that they have "more support, more resources, and more opportunities to bring our vision to life," while making ExeKiller the best game they possibly can and keeping the team together.
There's no indication as to when we'll get to see more of the game, though now that Paradark has 505 Games supporting it, perhaps we'll start to see more of ExeKiller, as 505 potentially takes over more of the marketing while Paradark can focus on finishing the game.
Regardless, ExeKiller has been one of the most intriguing projects on Steam in the past few years, and it's exciting to see the game find a strong publishing partner. Hopefully, it's not too much longer before we're able to play ExeKiller ourselves.
