Dragon's Dogma 2 will get new gameplay and information during Tokyo Game Show 2023, CAPCOM said in a tweet from the official account. Game Director Hideaki Itsuno will appear on the company's Online Program, scheduled to air on September 21st at 7 AM Pacific Time, to deliver the news and introduce the new footage.

The announced lineup of CAPCOM's Online Program also includes Resident Evil 4 VR mode (coming exclusively to PS VR2), Exoprimal (presumably with new updates), Street Fighter 6 (possibly showing Ed as the next playable fighter), the remastered collection Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy and Monster Hunter Now, the soon-to-be-released augmented reality mobile game developed by Niantic. Of course, Monster Hunter fans are also hoping for the rumored announcement of the next mainline game after the incredible success of Monster Hunter World, which became CAPCOM's best-selling game ever.

As for Dragon's Dogma 2, the action roleplaying game sequel may not be far from its launch date, considering the pace of CAPCOM's news. The sequel was announced in June 2022, and the first gameplay was presented less than a year later at this May's PlayStation Showcase event.

The game was also featured at the CAPCOM Showcase that aired as part of Summer Game Fest in June. There, Itsuno-san confirmed that Dragon's Dogma 2 will still be a single player game with only the 'feel' of co-op (which I believe is a huge missed opportunity) provided by the AI-powered Pawns. However, Pawns will be much smarter in the sequel, not to mention more helpful in battle and even capable of guiding the player to new locations. Enemy foes will also take advantage of the smarter AI, though, promising to be a challenge for players.

Dragon's Dogma 2 is set in a world four times as large as the original game. The story will keep players on their toes, and the two characters on the key art (the bow wielder Ulrika and the high priestess beastren Nadinia) are said to be pivotal to the plot.

The second installment in the Dragon's Dogma series is powered by RE Engine, and it's the first open world made with the technology. It'll launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S|X.
