Dragon Quest III HD-2D won't take much longer to release, and it will be accompanied by a rather welcome surprise, according to rumors circulating online.

Speaking on X/Twitter, Midori, who proved to be an extremely reliable insider in the past few months, revealed that the game will be released by the end of the current fiscal year, so by the end of March 2025. Additionally, it seems like Square Enix is remastering in 2D-HD the entirety of the Loto trilogy, which comprises the first three entries in the series. Yesterday's teaser kind of gives it away, as it mentioned the legend of Erdrick, which is the main focus of the Loto trilogy.

If Dragon Quest III HD-2D will indeed be accompanied by the remasters of its predecessors, playing these games will be a great way to prepare for the release of Dragon Quest XII: The Flames of Fate. Very little is currently known about the game besides the fact that it will be powered by Unreal Engine 5 and will feature an overhaul of the series' classic turn-based combat system.

Dragon Quest III HD-2D will launch on a yet-to-be-confirmed release date on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Nintendo Switch. We will keep you updated on the game and the other rumored remasters as soon as more information becomes available, so stay tuned for all the latest news.
