Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition has been in development for Nintendo Switch 2 for longer than what has been assumed so far, according to a member of the development team.

Speaking with Eurogamer, CD Projekt Red's gameplay technical design expert Filip Downar confirmed that the team has been working passionately on the Nintendo Switch 2 port of the game for more than seven weeks. Apparently, the misunderstanding arose because the build that has been showcased so far was finalized seven weeks before its first showing.

While Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition is obviously the team's main focus, there's a slim chance that a Nintendo Switch 2 upgrade for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt may not be off the table. When asked about it by Eurogamer, the CDPR gameplay technical design expert only reaffirmed the team's commitment to the Cyberpunk 2077 Switch 2 port, without outright denying the possibility. Considering how Geralt of Rivia's latest adventure is still one of the most impressive Switch ports ever released, it would be very interesting to see how the game could be improved using the additional power offered by the new Nintendo system and some of its advanced features, such as ray tracing support.

Much like the aforementioned Nintendo Switch port of The Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition is looking to be one of the most impressive ports coming to Nintendo Switch 2 during its launch window, judging from the footage that has been shared so far. The game will launch on June 5th, the same day the system does, with the physical edition not requiring any additional download.
