The latest Cyberpunk 2077 patch that went live earlier this week introduced another NVIDIA DLSS setting to the game that seems to work incredibly well to achieve stable performance with consistent visuals.

The new DLSS option added to the open-world RPG by CD Projekt Red is a Dynamic Resolution Scaling option, which changes DLSS resolution on the fly to maintain the target framerate. According to some testing made by Reddit user skyj420, the option doesn't just cycle between the usual DLSS settings but actually reduces resolution only as much as needed to maintain the target framerate. In the demanding Dogtown area, for example, the user saw only a reduction from 1440p to 1420p resolution, resulting in more consistent visuals when the game seamlessly switched from DLAA to DLSS.

While the new Dynamic Resolution Scaling option doesn't work with path tracing in Cyberpunk 2077, it's an incredible addition that improves NVIDIA DLSS considerably. Hopefully, it will be introduced in more titles in the future.

Cyberpunk 2077 is now available on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and Xbox One worldwide. You can learn more about the Phantom Liberty expansion and the 2.0 update by checking out Alessio's review.
